Marinara Sauce

This is the basic marinara sauce recipe. One of the core Italian sauces that is absolutely delicioua in any pasta, or even salads and other meals.

What you’ll need:
1/2 bulb garlic (chopped)
1 bulb red onion (chopped)
1 can chopped tomatoes (400g)
1 pack tomato sauce (200g)
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup fresh basil (chopped)
1 medium tomato (or 2 small, crushed)
1/2 tbsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tbsp ground black pepper


Step 1

In a small saucepan, saute the garlic and onions in olive oil.


Step 2
Add the crushed fresh tomatoes, cook for about 5 minutes


Step 3
Add the canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. Cook for about 3-5 minutes before adding the salt, sugar, and black pepper.


Step 4
Add the chopped basil. Stir and simmer for 5 to 8 minutes.


Add salt and pepper as required after tasting.

Used as basic pizza sauce. Also for chicken parmesan, lasagna, and other pasta dishes.
